RAILROAD LINES

My first experience with public procurement came in 2004 at PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. I was a member of a team of more than a dozen people, operating under a somewhat fancy name of “the unit for the implementation of railroad projects co-financed by the European Union.” This team was responsible for the implementation of projects aimed at modernization of critical rail lines in Poland.

Modernization of railroad lines that are of vital importance for the country’s security – total value of over EUR 5 billion.

Poland’s first projects involving ERTMS and adjusting rail lines to speeds of 160 km/h and above.

Pre-accession projects related to the adaptation of railroad infrastructure to applicable EU requirements.

Participation in the assessment of the eligibility of expenditure from EU funds (ISPA, Cohesion Fund, Operational Program Infrastructure and Environment).

I believe it was a special honor to be able to support the Auschwitz Museum in Oświęcim with respect to international laws concerning the mobility of museum collections and the so-called “museum immunity.”
